Emily Carmichael is a Professional Studies Diploma student at the Mannes School of Music in New York, NY where she studies with Brandon Ridenour. Before moving to New York, Emily completed both her Master’s in Music Performance and Literature (University of Western Ontario), and her Bachelor of Music Performance (Wilfrid Laurier University) in Ontario, Canada where she studied with Guy Few, Aaron Hodgson, Steven Woomert, and Shawn Spicer.

 

While living in Canada Emily spent her time teaching and performing across Ontario to share her passion of music with those around her. Emily has performed in a wide variety of groups including; the London Community Orchestra, the Richmond Hill Philharmonic Orchestra, Mansfield Entertainment’s Pit Orchestra, Wilfrid Laurier Symphony Orchestra, Wilfrid Laurier Wind Ensemble, Wilfrid Laurier Pit Orchestra, Wilfrid Laurier Brass Quinet, Wilfrid Laurier Brass Ensemble, Western University Symphony Orchestra, Western University Brass Quintet, and many others. As a soloist Emily has had the opportunity to perform the Arutunian Trumpet Concerto with the Western Wind Orchestra as the winner of Western’s Concerto Competition. Emily has also performed as a soloist in Ontario for a variety of events such as Bereavement Ceremonies, Christmas Services, Easter Services, Remembrance Day Services, High School Workshops, and multiple solo recitals.

 

Since moving to New York Emily continues to share her passion of music through both teaching and performing, Emily has opened her own private studio where she teaches students of all ages trumpet, theory, and piano lessons. As a teacher Emily focuses on creating unique lesson plans for each student to ensure that they can learn to the best of their ability.  As a performer Emily has been actively taking gigs around the city including engagements such as Flagpole Dedications and Easter Services. With the Mannes School of Music Emily has enjoyed playing with the Mannes Orchestra, Mannes Brass Ensemble, Mannes Brass Quintet, and Mannes Wind Ensemble.

 

As a dedicated performer and teacher Emily looks forward to expanding her private studio and taking part in some exciting upcoming performances!
